Through implementation of flexible automated systems, Axis has improved both our
ability to meet delivery expectations as well as to provide the highest quality
product available. To achieve this Axis has integrated multiple technologies
working together to both validate materials and process ensuring every axles
integrity. Through the integration of laser measurement technology each axle is
measured before processing. The measurement results are then applied to offset
the weld position to within .010 inches of nominal. Once the adjustment for
position is calculated and applied, integrated monitoring tools are used to
monitor and control 40 parameters of the weld. During the process this system
verifies the weld quality 100 times per second. If a failure occurs the system
automatically destroys the axle by placing a weld over the spindle to ensure it
can not be assembled. Each welds data profile is recorded and through a
diagnostic utility compared against the nominal algorithm to analyze trends and
forecast potential failures. This automated technology also enables Axis to
change product configuration accurately through the push of a button, to provide
the utmost flexibility to meet our customer requirements. Axis has also made
great strides in our assembly operations by implementing systems to ensure order
accuracy and content through 200% quality inspections of each axle. We are
